A system called DigiClaim was introduced in the Kharif 2022 season for fair insurance claim settlements. Through the National Crop Insurance Portal (NCIP) and the Public Finance Management System (PFMS), the claims are now processed transparently, monitored by government authorities, and directly deposited into farmers’ accounts. While farmers don’t handle DigiClaim, they receive SMS updates with payment status links.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, a structured grievance redressal system operates at block, district, and state levels. The Krishi Rakshak Portal & Helpline aids farmers in reporting concerns, linked to a toll-free number and a digital platform, initially piloted in Chhattisgarh.
NCIP, initiated in 2018, continually upgrades to streamline processes, enhance transparency, and centralize crop insurance data. It manages crop insurance operations, capturing comprehensive information and employing secure measures like SSL hosting, login credentials, CAPTCHA, and encryption during transactions. Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, provided this information in a Lok Sabha written reply.
