NTPC Renewable Energy Limited, a fully-owned subsidiary of NTPC, has officially commenced the commercial operation of its inaugural project, a 50 MW wind project located in Dayapar, Kachch, Gujarat, on November 4, 2023. This milestone has expanded the NTPC Group’s total installed capacity to 73,874 MW, with its renewable energy operational capacity now reaching 3,364 MW.

The Dayapar Wind project holds the distinction of being NTPC REL’s first project and the first capacity in India to be declared commercially operational under the new Indian Electricity Grid Code and General Network Access Regime. Additionally, NTPC REL has 15 other renewable energy projects in various stages of execution, with a cumulative capacity of 6,210 MW. Upon full commissioning, the Dayapar Wind Complex will add 450 MW to NTPC’s existing wind energy portfolio, which currently stands at 100 MW.

In addition to their focus on solar and wind power, NTPC REL is actively investing in Green Hydrogen technologies. They are establishing a significant capacity in Ladakh based on green hydrogen storage and microgrid principles.
