On the occasion of Good Governance Day, Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister, launched the Extended Version of Mission Karmayogi, marking a significant leap towards empowering civil servants and enhancing their capabilities in the digital era. The launch ceremony in New Delhi unveiled three new features on the iGOT Karmayogi platform: My iGOT, Blended Programs, and Curated Programs.
The aim of these new features is to tailor learning experiences for civil servants, enabling them to meet the evolving demands of governance effectively. Dr. Singh emphasized the critical role of technology in delivering timely and efficient services to citizens. He stressed the imperative for civil servants to leverage the digital revolution to advance digital governance, promoting e-governance and paperless offices for smoother decision-making processes within administrations.
Highlighting the pivotal aspects of Mission Karmayogi, Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined its focus on grooming future-ready civil servants who are tech-savvy, innovative, transparent, and progressive. He echoed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Maximum Governance and Minimum Government,’ emphasizing technology’s role in fostering transparency and accountability, fundamental aspects of good governance.
The ‘Whole of Government’ approach advocated by PM Modi was underscored by Dr. Singh, describing it as an all-encompassing march toward development, ensuring inclusivity and participation from all sectors.
Dr. Singh lauded the increasing participation of women in government services, acknowledging their rising leadership roles. He highlighted the initiatives introduced by PM Modi to enable ease of living for women employees in government sectors, such as special maternity leave, Child Care Leave (CCL), and other provisions aimed at supporting working mothers.
The government’s commitment to promoting citizen-centric, efficient, and transparent governance was reinforced through the celebration of ‘Good Governance Week/Day’ since 2014, paying homage to former Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
The new features on the Mission Karmayogi platform aim to revolutionize learning experiences for civil servants:
- My iGOT: Provides personalized training courses, aligning individual officer needs with the Capacity-Building Plan for Ministries/Departments, ensuring a targeted learning experience.
- Blended Programs: Integrates offline and online learning, offering flexibility while retaining the benefits of face-to-face interactions.
- Curated Programs: Tailored learning journeys designed to meet the diverse needs of Ministries/Departments by curating relevant content and resources.
Additionally, 12 domain-specific capacity-building e-learning courses were launched to address the competency requirements of civil servants effectively. The Variable & Immersive Karmayogi Advanced Support (VIKAS) program, aimed at middle management civil servants, combines 33 hours of iGOT training with 30 hours of offline training, focusing on functional, behavioral, and technological competencies required in the Central Government.
The extended Mission Karmayogi exemplifies the government’s commitment to fostering a technologically adept, competent, and responsive cadre of civil servants, aligning with India’s aspirations for efficient and transparent governance.
