Gwalior Soars: Inaugural Flights Mark Milestone in Air Connectivity

In a momentous occasion, Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, the Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, alongside Chief Minister Shri Mohan Yadav, inaugurated flights on three crucial routes from Gwalior. This event signifies a significant leap in enhancing air connectivity across the nation.

Minister Scindia expressed his excitement, highlighting Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of elevating India’s economic and spiritual prowess through world-class connectivity. Gwalior is now linked to six major cities, with 33 weekly flights, thanks to Air India Express.

Furthermore, he announced ambitious plans for a Rs 500 crore terminal building in Gwalior, combining modernity with the city’s rich history and culture. This terminal, spanning 2 lakh square feet, aims to meet the future demands of the region.

Scindia emphasized the remarkable growth in Madhya Pradesh’s aviation sector, with the state now connected to 31 cities, up from 13 in 2014. The government’s commitment is evident in ongoing projects, including a new terminal in Jabalpur, development of Rewa airport, and construction of new facilities in Datia and Satna.

Minister of State Gen (Dr) V.K. Singh(Retd.) emphasized that these new routes showcase the government’s dedication to accessible and convenient air travel, contributing to regional development. Air India Express’s daily flights on key routes underscore the commitment to a seven-day-a-week service, providing a boon for passengers.

The event witnessed the presence of key officials, including Minister of Energy Shri Pradhuman Singh Tomar, Minister of Social Justice Shri Narayan Singh Kushwah, and Member of Parliament Shri Vivek Narayan Shejwalkar, among others, marking a historic moment for Gwalior’s aviation landscape.
