Odisha Declares Public Holiday for Shree Jagannath Parikrama Project Inauguration

Odisha’s government has declared a state-wide public holiday on January 17 for the Shree Jagannath Parikrama project in Puri. According to the Odisha Chief Minister’s Office, all government schools, colleges, and offices will be closed. The project aims to enhance pilgrim facilities around the Jagannath temple, including parking, a bridge, pilgrimage centers, and a new road. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced the holiday to encourage participation in the Jagannath Temple Heritage Corridor project inauguration. The Shreemandira Parikrama will feature a 75-meter corridor, incorporating amenities like an ATM kiosk, electrical room, and First Aid Centre for devotees’ convenience and safety.
