On November 20, 2023, a robust 30-member Tanzanian technical delegation embarked on a significant visit to the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) at Electronics Niketan, marking a pivotal moment in bilateral collaboration between India and Tanzania in the field of e-Governance. The high-profile meeting witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Abhishek Singh, Additional Secretary, MeitY and P&CEO, NeGD; Sanjay Kumar Rakesh, CEO-CSC SPV; Saurabh K. Tiwari, Joint Secretary, DBT Mission; and Sanjay Kumar Pandey, Head of Department, NREGA, Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
The delegation engaged in comprehensive and technical discussions centered around India’s pioneering e-Governance initiatives, with a focus on elucidating the efficacy and implementation of various flagship programs. Among the primary topics of discussion were IndiaStack, Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT), Common Services Centres (CSCs), and the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA).
IndiaStack, a groundbreaking digital infrastructure, forms the backbone of the country’s digital ecosystem. It comprises a set of APIs that facilitate paperless, presence-less, and cashless service delivery, transforming India’s digital landscape. The delegation delved into the architecture, functionalities, and transformative potential of IndiaStack in delivering citizen-centric services.
The discussions extended to the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program, which leverages technology to directly transfer subsidies and benefits to citizens’ bank accounts, minimizing leakages and ensuring efficient and transparent delivery of welfare schemes. The Tanzanian delegation explored the mechanisms and impact of DBT in enhancing social security and inclusive governance.
Furthermore, the Common Services Centres (CSCs), an integral part of India’s rural digital infrastructure, were a focal point of deliberation.
