A landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked on November 23, 2023, in New Delhi, marking a significant stride in the realm of Defence Technology. The agreement, signed between the Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff (HQ IDS) and the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), paves the way for strategic technical collaboration and joint research and development endeavors.
The MoU was formalized by Lt General JP Mathew, Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC), Ministry of Defence (MoD), and Dr. N Kalaiselvi, Director General, CSIR & Secretary, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), Ministry of Science & Technology (MoST).
The primary objective of this MoU is to establish a comprehensive framework for fostering collaborative engagements between CSIR Labs, HQ IDS, and the Armed Forces – Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. The collaboration aims to elevate scientific comprehension in defence-related technologies and facilitate joint research and development initiatives, particularly focusing on dual-use technologies.
