In the spirit of celebrating Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, the Indian Navy has taken a significant step towards fostering knowledge and international camaraderie. The Inter School Quiz competitions, traditionally held at various Indian Navy stations, have been elevated to a National Level School Quiz Competition known as “The Indian Navy Quiz” or “THINQ.” In a remarkable twist, this year, with India taking on the prestigious G20 Presidency, THINQ has transformed into an international event, aptly rebranded as “G20 THINQ.” This exceptional event is being conducted by the Indian Navy under the aegis of the G20 Secretariat and in partnership with the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA), promising two levels of competition – National and International.
G20 THINQ: A Global Quiz Extravaganza
G20 THINQ is set to take India by storm, with a staggering participation of school children studying in Classes IX to XII from over 11,700 schools. The competition has been designed to stimulate young minds and foster a spirit of camaraderie, not only at the national level but across borders as well.
The National Round of G20 THINQ is a rigorous journey that begins with two online elimination rounds on September 12, 2023, and October 3, 2023. These rounds will be followed by an online quarter-final on October 10, 2023, where the top 16 teams will qualify for the semi-final round (four schools from each zone). The semi-finalists will converge in Mumbai for the national semi-finals, scheduled for November 17, 2023, at the iconic NCPA auditorium. The top eight teams will then engage in a battle of wits in the National final round, which is set to be held at the historic Gateway of India on November 18, 2023. Following the conclusion of the national round, two exceptional quizzers from among the finalists will be chosen to represent Team India in the international round.
G20 THINQ Goes International
The International Round of G20 THINQ marks a monumental stride towards international collaboration and cultural exchange. It will see the participation of students from G20+9 nations, with each team comprising two students. This international round aims to strengthen the Bridges of Friendship within G20 partner nations, allowing the youth of different countries to come together in the spirit of competition and cooperation. The event promises to be an enriching experience for all delegates, including the 16 national semi-finalists and international participants. Participants will have the unique opportunity to explore India’s diverse heritage and culture, as they are taken to various popular sites and locations throughout the country. The international finals are scheduled to take place on November 22, 2023, in the vibrant city of New Delhi.
A Dedicated Portal for G20 THINQ
To facilitate a seamless registration process for schools and provide all necessary event-related information, a dedicated website, www.theindiannavyquiz.in, has been established for G20 THINQ. This online hub will serve as a valuable resource for participants and organizers alike.
A Grand Finale for India’s G20 Presidency
As India prepares to hand over the G20 Presidency baton to Brazil on December 1, 2023, G20 THINQ takes center stage as the grand finale of a series of significant events held since December 2022. It serves as a fitting conclusion to India’s impactful G20 Presidency, which has witnessed numerous unique achievements on the global stage. G20 THINQ embodies the spirit of international collaboration and learning, echoing the aspirations of the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, as it promises to be a memorable event that will leave a lasting impression on young minds and foster global friendships.
