Azerbaijan Grand Prix: A Thrilling Ride Begins Today

The Baku City Circuit is set to host the 2024 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, a thrilling race that promises to be one of the highlights of the Formula 1 season. This high-speed street circuit, with its long straights and tight corners, has become known for its unpredictable nature and spectacular overtaking opportunities.  

A Brief History of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was first introduced to the Formula 1 calendar in 2017. The inaugural race was a memorable one, with a number of incidents and safety car periods. Since then, the event has become a popular fixture on the F1 circuit, known for its exciting racing and stunning backdrop.  

The Entrants

Tyre Choices

Pirelli, the official tyre supplier for Formula 1, has selected a range of tyres for the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The compound choices are designed to provide a balance of performance and durability on the challenging Baku City Circuit. The teams will have the option to choose from the following tyres:  

  • Hard (C1): A durable tyre designed for long stints.
  • Medium (C2): A versatile tyre that offers a good balance of performance and durability.
  • Soft (C3): A fast tyre with good grip, but less durable than the harder compounds.

Practice Sessions

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix will be preceded by three practice sessions. These sessions will give the teams and drivers an opportunity to test their cars, set up their race strategies, and gather data on the circuit conditions.

Qualifying
