India is gearing up for the prestigious ‘Bharat Tex’ expo, scheduled from February 26 to 29, set to be the world’s largest textiles event. With over 3,500 exhibitors, 3,000 overseas buyers, and an anticipated 40,000 visitors from 40 countries, the expo aims to position India as a global textile sourcing and investment destination. Union Minister Piyush Goyal, in a review meeting, emphasized inclusivity and proposed an online directory of exhibitors. Despite challenges in the textile sector, Bharat Tex 2024 is seen as a pivotal step in revitalizing the industry, aligning with ambitious plans to double its GDP contribution to 5% by 2030. The event also underscores efforts to address industry concerns, promote sustainability, and attract foreign investment. The success of Bharat Tex is pivotal in positioning India as a dominant force in the global textile market.
