Civil Aviation Focuses on Passenger Safety and Expansion

The Ministry of Civil Aviation prioritizes passenger safety and security. To uphold security, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) maintains vigilance at all airports, while safety is ensured through compliance with Civil Aviation Requirements (CAR) issued by DGCA.

Upon receiving any deviation reports regarding passengers, the Ministry promptly seeks responses from the respective airlines or airports. If wrongdoing is confirmed, penalties are imposed by the ministry against the responsible entities.

Union Minister of Civil Aviation and Steel, Shri Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, stated in Rajya Sabha that from 74 airports in 65 years, the country now boasts 149 operational airports/heliports/water aerodromes. He highlighted that the viability gap funding for the UDAN scheme facilitated 1.3 crore people in air travel. The government aims to have 42 crore people traveling by plane in India by 2030.
