High-Level Committee Approves Rs. 1658.17 Crore Recovery Plan for Joshimath, Uttarakhand

The Recovery and Reconstruction (R&R) plan for Joshimath, chaired by Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah, received approval from the High-Level Committee. Valued at Rs. 1658.17 crore, this comprehensive plan aims to address the aftermath of landslides and ground subsidence in the Uttarakhand region.

Of this amount, Rs. 1079.96 crore is allocated from the National Disaster Response Fund (NDRF), while the State Government will contribute Rs. 126.41 crore from its State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF). Additionally, Rs. 451.80 crore, inclusive of Rs. 91.82 crore for resettlement through land acquisition, will be provided from the State budget.

The Central Government has extended extensive technical and logistical support to Uttarakhand, facilitating the rapid formulation of the recovery plan for Joshimath. Led by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, various technical agencies, guided by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), played a pivotal role in this process.

The three-year implementation of the recovery plan will prioritize adopting Build Back Better (BBB) principles and sustainable initiatives. Post-execution, Joshimath is poised to set a commendable example of ecological sustainability, reflecting the success of this comprehensive recovery effort.
