India and UAE Aim for $100 Billion Bilateral Trade: A Vision for Enduring Partnership

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, and Textiles, Shri Piyush Goyal, conveyed the mutual aspiration of India and the UAE to expand their bilateral trade to US$ 100 Billion. Speaking at the ‘UAE India Business Summit’ during the 10th edition of the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, he highlighted the diverse nature of the India-UAE partnership, covering space exploration, security, education, and climate action.

Shri Goyal emphasized the need for innovative propositions from the industry to enhance the bilateral partnership, noting the growth in bilateral trade under the India UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA). Key collaborations like the India-Middle East-Europe economic corridor and initiatives promoting Rupay and facilitating direct trade between rupee and dirham were also underscored.

Expressing delight at strengthening bilateral relations, the Minister highlighted the significance of the UAE India Business Summit as a platform to unlock the vast potential of the partnership. He commended the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi in elevating the relationship.

Shri Goyal envisioned the India-UAE partnership as a defining alliance of the 21st century, rooted in shared history and mutual aspirations for progress. Gratitude was expressed to H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi and Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem for their contributions.

The Minister praised Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem’s guidance in establishing a Bharat Park in the Jebel Ali Free Zone, anticipating numerous trade opportunities. Efforts of Yousuf Ali Abdulqader, Vice Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce, were acknowledged, highlighting significant investments in India’s growth story.

Addressing defense, cultural, and economic ties, Shri Goyal lauded the UAE’s stability, business-friendly policies, and infrastructure advancements as catalysts for mutual growth. He lauded Dr. Thani’s leadership in chairing the WTO Ministerial Conference 13 and assured India’s full support.

Highlighting India’s demographic advantage and young population, the Minister invited investors to participate in India’s growth story. He concluded with optimism, reiterating the commitment of India and the UAE to a lasting partnership with a profound impact on both nations.
