Under the guidance of the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA), the Government of India (GoI) has launched strategic endeavors to lead the nation’s airports toward carbon neutrality. This initiative focuses on establishing standardized Carbon Accounting and Reporting frameworks for Indian airports, aiming to achieve Net Zero Carbon Emissions.
Remarkably, 66 Indian airports are already functioning entirely on renewable energy sources, marking a significant leap towards sustainability in the aviation sector. Airports such as Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bengaluru have notably attained Level 4+ and higher accreditation from the Airports Council International (ACI), showcasing their commitment to sustainability by becoming Carbon Neutral.
By embracing green energy practices and implementing stringent measures, these airports are pioneering a transformation towards environmental sustainability. Their achievements in carbon neutrality and reliance on renewable energy not only set an inspiring precedent but also contribute significantly to India’s commitment to combatting climate change while fostering a more sustainable aviation industry for the future.
