The All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) has initiated an extensive training program dedicated to addressing Latent Tuberculosis Infection (LTBI) across India. The program, running until December 2nd, 2023, is specifically designed for Ayurvedic medical officers from Delhi and Haryana, and is open to a wider audience through live social media platforms.
LTBI affects a substantial global population, where TB bacteria remain dormant within the body. The workshop emphasizes the importance of undergoing various blood tests or the TST test and conducting an X-ray if any test yields a positive result. Sessions in the two-day workshop cover disease comprehension, treatment, management, and insights into Ayurvedic approaches. Discussions also include awareness of Ministry of AYUSH and Ministry of Health schemes and strategies to disseminate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s TB-free India campaign.
Director of the Institute, Prof. Tanuja Manoj Nesari, highlighted Ayurveda’s potential role in eradicating TB by 2025, underlining the Ministry of AYUSH’s significant contributions in the fight against diseases like TB.
The institute has long focused on TB information, management, and diagnosis, witnessing considerable success. The workshop attracted numerous experts from both Ayurveda and Allopathy, emphasizing the commitment to achieve a TB-free India. Dr. Raghuram Rao, Asst. Director General in National TB Elimination Program (NTEP), Dr. Raghu Arackal, Deputy Director General (Ayush) Directorate, along with Deans and senior faculty members, actively participated in the event, coordinated by Prof. Jonah and Dr. Kajaria.
