INS Kadmatt Strengthens India-Thailand Naval Ties During Operational Deployment

As part of its extensive Long Range Operational Deployment to the North Pacific Ocean and South China Sea, INS Kadmatt made port at Bangkok, Thailand, on December 19, 2023. This strategic visit aims to fortify maritime cooperation between India and Thailand, fostering enhanced interoperability between the two navies.

During the operational turnaround at the harbor, planned activities include a reciprocal visit by personnel from the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) Academy and a planning conference for the Maritime Partnership Exercise (MPX). Following its departure from Bangkok, INS Kadmatt is scheduled to engage in the MPX alongside HTMS Rattanakosin, a corvette of the Royal Thai Navy.

Adm R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff, is set to visit INS Kadmatt on December 21, 2023, to engage with the ship’s crew. The CNS will lead the Indian Naval delegation at the Indian Ocean Naval Symposium (IONS) Conclave of Chiefs (CoC) hosted by the Royal Thai Navy in Bangkok from December 19 to December 22, 2023.

INS Kadmatt, the second of the four indigenous ASW (Anti-Submarine Warfare) corvettes of the Indian Navy, was commissioned on January 7, 2016. The vessel has actively participated in various joint naval exercises with allied nations, contributing significantly to regional security while nurturing maritime relationships.

Equipped with a state-of-the-art weapon and sensor package, INS Kadmatt possesses capabilities enabling a wide range of mission executions. It operates within the Indian Navy’s Eastern Fleet stationed at Visakhapatnam, functioning under the command of the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command.
