In response to a labor shortage caused by restrictions on Palestinian workers following the October 7 Hamas attack, Israel is planning to bring in 70,000 workers from India. The construction sector, hit hard by the shortage, is looking to hire skilled workers for various roles. Around 10,000 Indian workers are expected to be part of this initiative. Recently, hundreds of men in Haryana queued up for practical exams for construction jobs in Israel, marking a new chapter in international cooperation to address labor challenges in the aftermath of regional conflicts. The move aims to rejuvenate Israel’s construction industry and foster ties with countries like India. The Maharshi Dayanand University in Haryana is facilitating the testing process for thousands of Indian applicants seeking employment opportunities in Israel’s construction sector. The initiative signals a strategic effort to bridge labor gaps and contribute to the reconstruction and growth of industries affected by geopolitical events.
