Maratha Community’s Ongoing Struggle for Reservation Takes March to Mumbai

Activist Manoj Jarange Patil is leading a massive foot march of thousands of Maratha community members to Mumbai, intensifying their demand for reservation. The march, which started in Jalna, reached Pune with significant community support. The final destination is Mumbai’s Azad Maidan, where Patil plans to launch another hunger strike. Despite appeals from CM Eknath Shinde to end the protest, Patil urges unity, declaring it the “last phase” of their struggle. The government has emphasized its commitment to legal reservation and set a January 31 deadline for a survey on the community’s status.
