Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to attend the All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police 2023 at the Rajasthan International Centre in Jaipur on January 6th-7th, 2024. This conference, spanning from January 5th to 7th, 2024, will encompass discussions on various critical policing and internal security issues.
The conference’s agenda encompasses a wide array of topics such as Cyber Crime, Technology in Policing, Counter Terrorism challenges, Left Wing Extremism, Prison Reforms, and implementation roadmaps for new criminal laws. Additionally, it will focus on futuristic themes in policing, including challenges posed by emerging technologies like AI, Deepfake, and strategies to address them. The event aims not only to deliberate but also to identify actionable points and monitor their progress, subsequently presented to the Prime Minister annually.
Bringing together police and intelligence officers from district, state, and national levels, the conference fosters discussions on best practices from various States and Union Territories, allowing mutual learning and adaptation.
Since 2014, Prime Minister Modi has displayed a keen interest in these conferences, moving away from mere symbolic appearances to actively participating in major sessions. He encourages open discussions to foster new ideas and has planned informal thematic discussions over meals to encourage senior police officials to share their views and recommendations on vital security issues.
Under Prime Minister Modi’s encouragement, annual DGP conferences have been organized across the country since 2014. Previous conferences were held in various regions including Guwahati, Dhordo in Rann of Kutch, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, Kevadiya, Pune, Lucknow, and Delhi, continuing the tradition by hosting the current conference in Jaipur.
The conference will witness the attendance of dignitaries like the Union Home Minister, National Security Advisor, MOS for Home Affairs, Cabinet Secretary, senior officials from the Government of India, DGP of States/UTs, Heads of Central Armed Police Forces, and Central Police Organizations, among others.
The convergence of key stakeholders at this conference indicates a concerted effort to address evolving security challenges and equip law enforcement agencies with the necessary tools and strategies. Prime Minister Modi’s active engagement signifies the government’s commitment to evolving security paradigms and fostering collaborative efforts to ensure the nation’s safety and security.
