Ratle Hydroelectric Project Signs Historic Power Purchase Agreement: A Milestone for Renewable Energy in Jammu and Kashmir

In a significant stride towards harnessing renewable energy, the Ratle Hydro Electric Power Corporation Limited (RHPCL), a joint venture between NHPC Limited and Jammu and Kashmir State Power Development Corporation (JKSPDC), recently achieved a groundbreaking feat. RHPCL has successfully entered into a pivotal Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited, signifying a landmark collaboration for the offtake of power generated from the 850 MW Ratle Hydroelectric Project in Kishtwar, within the union territory of Jammu & Kashmir.

The signed agreement stands as a testament to the project’s enduring commitment to renewable energy initiatives. The PPA secures the offtake of power for an extensive period of 40 years from the Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the Ratle Hydroelectric Project. The power allocation will be officially notified by the Ministry of Power, Government of India.

The momentous signing of the PPA took place in Jaipur on January 3, 2024, amidst the presence of esteemed officials representing RHPCL and Rajasthan Urja Vikas and IT Services Limited.
