In a recent development in the Indian political landscape, the President of India, following advice from the Prime Minister, has approved the resignations of Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, Shri Prahlad Singh Patel, and Smt. Renuka Singh Saruta from the Union Council of Ministers. This decision, enacted under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution, takes immediate effect, prompting subsequent directives from the President based on the Prime Minister’s counsel.
In response to the resignations, the President has directed the following appointments:
- Shri Arjun Munda, currently a Cabinet Minister, will take on the additional responsibility of overseeing the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare in addition to his current portfolio.
- Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, serving as Minister of State, will now also assume the role of Minister of State in the Ministry of Food Processing Industries alongside her existing duties.
- Shri Rajeev Chandrasekhar, currently holding the position of Minister of State, is assigned additional responsibilities as Minister of State in the Ministry of Jal Shakti, complementing his existing portfolios.
- Dr. Bharti Pravin Pawar, currently a Minister of State, will assume the role of Minister of State in the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, adding to her current portfolio.
These strategic ministerial changes aim to streamline administrative responsibilities and ensure effective governance across key sectors. The decision to accept the resignations and implement new assignments underscores the government’s commitment to maintaining efficiency and expertise within the Union Council of Ministers.
This realignment is expected to further the government’s agenda and bolster efforts in crucial domains such as agriculture, food processing, water resources, and tribal affairs. As the new appointees take on additional roles, the government looks ahead to continue its initiatives for the welfare and development of the nation.
