Surya Namaskar Shines Bright at ASMCFest: Celebrating Veer Bal Diwas with Yoga and Community Spirit

The Anushaktinagar Sports Management Committee (ASMC) illuminated the PTAAF Complex in Anushaktinagar, Mumbai, with the radiance of Surya Namaskar during the #VeerBalDiwas celebrations on January 13, 2024. Dr. A. K. Mohanty, Secretary, Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), and Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission (AEC), graced the event as the Chief Guest, delivering insightful words that highlighted the importance of yoga as an ancient science and its recent integration into the National Education Policy as a crucial component of physical education.

The Surya Namaskar, a sequence of asanas, took center stage at the event, holding a special place in the Common Yoga Protocol of the Ministry of Ayush, Government of India. Honoring the sacrifice of Sahibzadas Baba Zorawar Singh Ji and Baba Fateh Singh Ji, the sons of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, December 26 is observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas.’ Designated by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the day commemorates the extraordinary bravery and supreme sacrifice of these revered figures. The Ministry of Culture, Government of India, is organizing a series of participatory programs across the country, bringing communities together to pay homage to these brave souls.
