Vice Admiral AN Pramod took charge as Director General Naval Operations on January 15, 2024. Commissioned into the Indian Navy in 1990, Vice Admiral Pramod is an alumnus of the 38th Integrated Cadet Course at the Naval Academy in Goa. His distinguished career includes serving as a CAT ‘A’ SeaKing Air Operations Officer and a Communication & Electronics Warfare Specialist.
Having completed the Staff Course at DSSC Wellington and the NHCC at NWC, Goa, Vice Admiral Pramod held significant afloat appointments, commanding IN ships such as INS Abhay, INS Shardul, and INS Satpura. His leadership extends to roles like Fleet Operations Officer, Western Fleet, and Command of the Naval Air Station, INS Utkrosh at Port Blair.
With notable staff appointments, including Joint Director, Naval Air Staff, and Principal Director Aircraft Acquisition, Vice Admiral Pramod’s strategic contributions also spanned the Indian Strategic & Operational Council INSOC and Tactical Audit Group TAG from 2016-19 and 2006-09 respectively. Married to Mrs. Ambili Pramod, they have two children, Chitranjali and Siddhanta.
